Build log

1 entry, newest first

  1. Where Jot stands

Starting the build log nine days before the V1 target. What Jot is, the parts it's built from, and the milestones between here and a first complete unit.

Jot is a handheld push-to-talk voice-note device. Press the button, speak, release. The recording goes over Bluetooth Low Energy to an iPhone app, which transcribes it and turns it into a note, a reminder, or a calendar event.

    The parts

    • Brain: Seeed XIAO nRF52840 Sense, handling the button, audio capture, and the BLE link.
    • Host: an iPhone app that receives the audio and does the transcription and sorting.
    • Board: a custom PCB, fabricated by JLCPCB.
    • Case: 3D printed.

    The plan to V1

    1. Breadboard prototype
    2. BLE audio to iPhone
    3. Voice to notes, reminders, and calendar events
    4. Custom PCB and 3D-printed case

The target for the first complete unit is 9 October 2026. Future entries will cover each step as it happens: what worked, what didn't, and why.
